Carlos Fernandez who is a father and evangelical pastor, also seeks to encourage Guatemalans to join in prayers for peace.
The challenge begins on December 26 by climbing the Pacaya volcano. The Maya community of Union will also participate in the climb, along with several experts in such activities.
With this challenge, both father and son seek to raise funds to help community development of the Unión Maya, at the farm community El Tabacal, in Escuintla.
This community is composed of Quiché Indians, who for years had migrated to the South Coast in search of work and due to the lack of opportunities in the Quiché department, organized and settled in the El Tabacal in 2005.
Community members were assisted by missions of religious organizations, including the congregation of My Father's House, located in San Lucas Sacatepequez, which is directed by Fernández.
